thumb_down Cons
- − Color grading makes performer look washed out and artificial
- − Skin tone doesn't match typical room lighting
- − Heavy makeup compensation breaks passthrough illusion
- − Color issues are distracting throughout the scene
Ava Amira makes a strong first impression in this passthrough scene, and it's easy to see why there's genuine excitement about her casting. She's got natural charisma and engages well with the camera, making decent eye contact and moving naturally within your space. The full-body tracking is clean without visible cutoff artifacts, and the scale feels accurate on Quest 3.
But there's a glaring technical issue: the color grading is way off. Ava's skin tone looks washed out and artificial compared to her other work, with what appears to be heavy makeup compensation that doesn't match typical room lighting. It breaks the passthrough illusion when the performer looks like they're lit for a different environment than your actual room.
The video quality itself is sharp and the compositing is solid, she genuinely looks planted in your space rather than floating. Audio is clean with good spatial positioning. But that color mismatch is a constant reminder you're watching a composite rather than having someone actually there. This is the main detractor from an otherwise hot scene.
Worth watching for Ava's performance and the clean technical execution, but SLR needs to dial in their color correction workflow for future passthrough releases. The foundation is strong here, just needs better post-production finesse.
