thumb_up Pros
- + Performer scale feels accurate on Quest 3
- + Direct eye contact and engagement with camera
- + Solid concept execution for AR format
thumb_down Cons
- − Visible compositing fringing breaks immersion
- − Audio feels disconnected from the performer's in-room positioning
- − Lighting mismatch makes performer look composited rather than present
- − Treadmill concept underutilized, mostly static posing
Passthrough/AR scenes are still a niche format, and this one attempts the obvious appeal: a life-sized performer appearing in your actual room. The concept is solid, oil, slow movement, direct eye contact with your space, but the execution here feels half-baked. The performer does lock in visually with decent scale on Quest 3, and there's genuine novelty in seeing someone composited into your bedroom. However, the technical implementation trips over itself pretty quickly.
The video feed is serviceable but soft around the edges where the performer meets your room's passthrough. There's visible fringing and the blending isn't seamless, you can clock the compositing if you're paying attention, which breaks the "she's actually here" illusion. The performer's lighting doesn't quite match typical indoor room lighting, making them feel slightly plasticky. Audio is thin and echoey, like it was recorded in a smaller space and dropped into your environment without acoustic treatment. The spatial audio doesn't sell the "in-room" vibe, dialogue just feels like it's coming from your headset, not from where she appears to be standing.
Performance-wise, there's engagement and eye contact, but the scene feels repetitive after a few minutes. The treadmill concept is underutilized, mostly static posing with oil rather than actual dynamic movement that would justify the premise. For a passthrough scene, this needed stronger camera work and better real-time tracking to avoid drift or clipping. At this price point and with no engagement data to signal whether this is worth your time, it's a gamble. The novelty of AR is here, but the production quality and immersion don't justify the ask.
