Moving In, Putting Out
A landmark win for trans VR content at a major industry ceremony
The Award
"Moving In, Putting Out" won Best Sex Scene, Virtual Reality at the 2019 XBIZ Awards, making it one of the most significant wins in VR award history. This wasn't a niche or sub-category win; it took the main VR scene award in open competition against all studios and all content types. A trans scene winning the overall VR category at XBIZ was a genuine milestone.
The Scene
Released in March 2018, "Moving In, Putting Out" builds on a domestic scenario, the kind of everyday setup that VR handles well because of the format's inherent intimacy. GroobyVR's approach was straightforward and effective, using the immersive nature of VR to create a sense of closeness that flat trans content often struggles to achieve. The scene demonstrated that VR wasn't just a format for mainstream content; it could elevate every category.
The Performers
Domino Presley is one of the most decorated trans performers in the industry. A multiple Transgender Erotica Award winner and AVN nominee, Presley's career spans well over a decade. Her involvement with GroobyVR brought immediate legitimacy and visibility to the studio's VR efforts. Gabriel Dalessandro provided strong scene partnership, contributing to the natural chemistry the scene required.
The Studio
GroobyVR is the virtual reality arm of Grooby, the most established name in trans adult content. Founded by Steven Grooby, the parent company has operated trans-focused sites since the early 2000s. GroobyVR launched in 2017, making it an early entrant in trans VR content. The studio benefits from Grooby's deep roster of performers and established production infrastructure. We don't currently cover GroobyVR with full reviews.
Why It Matters
This win matters on multiple levels. First, it proved that trans VR content could compete head-to-head with cisgender content at a major ceremony, and win. Second, it validated the VR format as a particularly effective medium for trans content, where the immersive perspective adds a dimension that flat video can't replicate. The XBIZ recognition opened doors for more trans VR production across the industry.
