thumb_down Cons
- − Video quality feels dated for 4K
- − Occasional camera distance issues
- − Room tone audio slightly hollow
VR Bangers' "Blow Dried" executes its risky salon premise surprisingly well, with Ella Nova delivering committed energy throughout the 43-minute runtime. The scenario (getting serviced by the hairdresser while your partner gets a cut nearby) walks a fine line but Nova sells it with genuine enthusiasm and natural eye contact that keeps you engaged rather than cringing.
The 4K video quality feels dated by current standards, with noticeable softness during close-up moments and some compression artifacts during faster movement. Audio is serviceable but nothing special, dialogue comes through clearly but there's a slight hollow quality to the room tone that occasionally breaks immersion. The salon setting works better than expected, with decent lighting that avoids the flat studio look.
Camera positioning is mostly solid, sitting at a natural height for the scenario, though it occasionally drifts too far back during key moments. Nova's petite frame scales well in VR, and she maintains good spatial awareness throughout most positions. The interactive elements flow naturally from the premise rather than feeling forced, which elevates what could have been a gimmicky concept.
Worth it. A well-executed fantasy scenario that overcomes its technical limitations through strong performance and believable chemistry.
