VR Bangers takes their first swing at passthrough with Serena Hill, and while the ambition is commendable, the execution feels like a proof-of-concept that needed more time in the oven. The 8K video quality is crisp enough, but the passthrough integration creates an uncanny valley effect where Serena appears to float slightly above your actual floor rather than naturally inhabiting your space. The compositing is clean without obvious cutoff artifacts, but the lighting mismatch between the performer and typical room lighting makes the illusion harder to maintain.

Serena brings genuine enthusiasm to her role, delivering natural eye contact and playful energy that helps sell the "birthday surprise" premise. Her petite frame actually works well for the passthrough format, avoiding the giant woman distortion that plagues some mixed reality attempts. The audio is surprisingly solid with clear dialogue and natural breathing, though there's occasional room echo that reminds you this was shot in a studio rather than your actual bedroom.

The camera positioning sits at a reasonable height and distance, though it occasionally feels too static during movement-heavy positions.
